Mr Khalid Malik - Consultant Hip & Knee Surgeon
Mr Khalid Malik is a distinguished orthopaedic consultant, specialising in hip and knee surgery, with his clinical practice based in East Sussex. He graduated in medicine from Imperial College London, one of the world’s leading medical schools, where he honed his academic foundation before embarking on extensive orthopaedic training in hospitals across the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex region.
Following the completion of his specialist training, Mr Malik was appointed as the Thackray Fellow at the internationally renowned Wrightington Hospital, widely recognised as the birthplace of hip and knee replacement surgery. This prestigious position enabled him to further refine his expertise in the field, establishing him as a specialist in hip and knee surgery.
His areas of proficiency include primary total hip and knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, robotic-assisted surgery, knee arthroscopy, and revision hip and knee replacement. Mr Malik is at the forefront of innovation, frequently employing robotic technology to ensure exceptional precision in his procedures and consistently positive patient outcomes. His commitment to incorporating the latest advancements in surgical technology reflects his dedication to enhancing surgical accuracy and improving patient care.

Education & Training
Mr Malik graduated from Imperial College London, School of Medicine (ICSM) in 2012. He undertook his Foundation training in London and Core Surgical Training in Yorkshire. During his training, he also completed a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Trauma Sciences with Distinction from Queen Mary University, London.
After completing his higher speciality training in Kent, Surrey & Sussex in 2022, he undertook specialist fellowship training at the prestigious Wrightington Hospital, internationally renowned as the birthplace of modern lower limb arthroplasty. During his fellowship, he received extensive training in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty and developed expertise in managing complex hip and knee disorders, revision arthroplasty, impaction bone grafting, custom hip and knee replacements and direct anterior approach of the hip.
He was awarded the British Hip Society Travelling Fellowship Bursary in 2023, which facilitated his visitation to the adult reconstruction department at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

Academic Interests
Mr Malik is passionate about training the next generation of Surgeons. He is the founder of a national orthopaedic teaching collaborative “CollabORTHO”, through which he has imparted invaluable knowledge to hundreds of students from various medical schools nationally. He is a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (MFSTEd) of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is part of the CCRiSP and BSS course faculty for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He holds a position as an undergraduate examiner at Queen Mary University, London. Mr Malik’s dedication to surgical training has earned him the coveted “Trainer of the Year” accolade twice during his training years (2013 – Barts Health, 2017 – East Kent Hospitals) and a nomination for the prestigious ASiT “Silver Suture” award in 2023.
Mr Malik has authored over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at national and international conferences. His research projects received the EFORT Jacques Duparc Award and the British Hip Society President’s Prize in 2022.
